Pharmacy IT Tech – Full Time
Weekly Hours: 40
Shift: 1st
Job Summary:
Works with the Automation and Systems Manager in the Pharmacy to optimize automation use within the pharmacy, including but not limited to the Robot, AcuDose Cabinets (both within the pharmacy and throughout the hospital), and the Med Carousel. Helps to train new staff on automation within the pharmacy. Completes special projects as assigned by the Pharmacy Automation & Systems Manager, Pharmacy Manager or Director.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual’s job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Reviews Robot Rx daily performance summary report and makes adjustments as necessary.
2. Reviews Robot Rx cell map adjustment report on a regular basis and makes adjustments as necessary.
3. Reviews Robot Rx low volume drugs report and makes adjustments as necessary.
4. Reviews Robot Rx high volume non-Robot drugs report and makes adjustments as necessary.
5. Reviews AcuDose optimization by station report (monthly) and makes adjustments as necessary.
6. Monitors AcuDose out of stock reports on a daily basis and makes inventory adjustments as necessary.
7. Maintains AcuDose inventory levels by reallocating medications based on current drug shortages.
8. Coordinates and assists in performing AcuDose expiration date monitoring.
9. Maintains and updates MedCarousel reference guide.
10. Maintains proper inventory weight distribution in MedCarousel.
11. Evaluates optimum inventory location and levels in MedCarousel and adjusts as necessary. Scans barcodes of products as received to verify that barcode is in HARx. Other projects as assigned by the Director, Manager, or Automation and Systems Manager.
12. Helps Cover shifts in the Main Pharmacy or Satellite Pharmacy as needed per discretion of the Pharmacy Manager or Director.
13. Trains new staff in use of automation and evaluates competency.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience:
A. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
B. Must be knowledgeable of medications (dosage forms, brand and generic names).
C. Required: Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration certificate for Pharmacy Technician. (Within 30 days of hire date if you are a new registrant. If previously registered you must have registration upon hire)
D. Required: Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT)
