POSITION SUMMARY
Pharmacy Technicians, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department. Pharmacy Technicians assist the pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Pharmacy Technicians function in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and state and federal regulations. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Qualifications

Education/Qualification
High School diploma or equivalent
Technical School/1 Year College preferred
1-3 years hospital experience preferred
Technical School/2 Years College / Associate s Degree preferred
Certification as Pharmacy Technician required
Skills
Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified times. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities and solve problems.
Knowledgeable of laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Experience with Micro Soft Office
Good interpersonal skills
Effective communications skills, both verbal and written
Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology
Pyxis experience with knowledge of Pyxis Reports (i.e., optimization, load/unload, nursing narcotic access, etc.) preferred
