The Chemo Pharmacy tech assists the Pharmacist in the compounding of sterile chemotherapy preparations for oncology patients, assists with compliance of USP 797 and 800 guidelines, and fills/refills Pyxis dispensing cabinets. The Chemo Pharmacy Tech also assists with the general operations of the oncology Pharmacy such as receiving and processing the wholesaler medication order, answering phone calls, delivering medications to nurses, and any other function to support pharmaceutical care to the patients being treated at the cancer center.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Training as a pharmacy technician from an educational institution or in a hospital environment preferred.
LICENSURE

EXPERIENCE
2 years or more preparing hazardous sterile compounded products – preferred. Must have considerable math, computer keyboarding and guest relations skills. Must be able to work in a diversified position with moderate level of independence with work monitored and checked by a pharmacist. Must have good reasoning and problem solving skills involving quick mental response to provide immediate response and actions to questions and assignments.
CERTIFICATION
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required upon hire or within one year of employment.
