TASK SUMMARY The Drug Store Specialist 1, under the guidance and instructions of a Pharmacist, supplies drug store services, handles stock, and provides pharmaceutical care as designated and in accordance with Texas State Board of Drug Store (TSBP) policies. NECESSARY FUNCTIONS OF THE FUNCTION Carries out minimal drug store services and responsibilities connected with the equipping, preparation, labeling, giving and shipment of medications. Assists clients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct guidance of a pharmacist preceptor. Responses inbound telephone call and reacts to the requirements of the caller and/or directs them to the suitable individual for service. Interacts immediately with all suitable staff member when stock levels are low and helps with drug buying and stock control in a proper way (ex. purchasing and getting of medications and materials). Carries out designated jobs concerning drug store quality assurance, management of drug store records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs. Goes into medication orders from medical professionals’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, making sure that the right item is given which the dose type and charge amount remain in accordance with formulary; gets in appropriate billing information and is accountable for medication charges and credits. Deals with disparities, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated giving maker (ADM) Cleans up and assists keep devices and workspace; disinfects glasses according to recognized treatments. Understanding of treatments and requirements for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications. Need to have the ability to check out, compose and follow directions and flowchart procedures. Capability to sort, check, count, and confirm numbers. Capability to follow recognized security, infection control, ecological and seclusion practices and treatments at all times.
