TASK SUMMARY The Drug Store Specialist 1, under the guidance and instructions of a Pharmacist, offers drug store services, handles stock, and provides pharmaceutical care as appointed and in accordance with Texas State Board of Drug Store (TSBP) guidelines. NECESSARY FUNCTIONS OF THE FUNCTION Carries out restricted drug store services and responsibilities connected with the equipping, preparation, labeling, giving and shipment of medications. Assists clients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct guidance of a pharmacist preceptor. Responses inbound telephone call and reacts to the requirements of the caller and/or directs them to the proper individual for service. Interacts immediately with all suitable staff member when stock levels are low and helps with drug acquiring and stock control in a suitable way (ex. buying and getting of medications and products). Carries out designated jobs concerning drug store quality assurance, management of drug store records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs. Gets in medication orders from medical professionals’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, making sure that the appropriate item is given which the dose type and charge amount remain in accordance with formulary; goes into proper billing information and is accountable for medication charges and credits. Fixes inconsistencies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated giving maker (ADM) Cleans up and assists keep devices and workspace; disinfects glasses according to recognized treatments. Understanding of treatments and requirements for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
