JOB SUMMARY The Drug Store Technician 1, under the supervision and instructions of a Pharmacist, offers drug store services, manages stock, and delivers pharmaceutical care as designated and in accordance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) guidelines. VITAL FUNCTIONS OF THE FUNCTION Performs restricted drug store services and responsibilities related to the stocking, preparation, labeling, giving and shipment of medications. Assists clients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental questions under the direct guidance of a pharmacist preceptor. Responses inbound phone calls and reacts to the needs of the caller and/or directs them to the suitable individual for service. Interacts without delay with all appropriate team members when inventory levels are low and helps with drug acquiring and stock control in a suitable manner (ex. buying and getting of medications and materials). Performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality assurance, management of drug store records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs. Gets in medication orders from physicians’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, making sure that the right product is given which the dosage type and charge amount are in accordance with formulary; enters correct billing data and is responsible for medication charges and credits. Resolves discrepancies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated dispensing device (ADM) Cleans and assists preserve equipment and workspace; sterilizes glassware according to recognized treatments. SECRET SUCCESS FACTORS Standard understanding of Pharmacy Care modalities, terminology, pharmaceutical computations, terminology, substance abuse and aseptic methods, standards, and equipment. Knowledge of treatments and requirements for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications. Should have the ability to read, write and follow directions and flow diagram procedures. Capability to sort, check, count, and validate numbers. Capability to follow established security, infection control, ecological and seclusion practices and treatments at all times. Social skills required to communicate efficiently with patients and personnel. General computer system abilities, including but not limited to: using needed software application applications, information entry, info security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email.
