JOB SUMMARY The Drug Store Technician 1, under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist, supplies drug store services, manages inventory, and provides pharmaceutical care as designated and in accordance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) regulations. NECESSARY FUNCTIONS OF THE FUNCTION Carries out limited pharmacy services and tasks related to the stocking, preparation, labeling, giving and delivery of medications. Helps clients and medical staff with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor. Responses incoming call and responds to the requirements of the caller and/or directs them to the appropriate individual for service. Communicates quickly with all appropriate employee when inventory levels are low and helps with drug buying and stock control in a suitable way (ex. buying and receiving of medications and products). Performs designated jobs concerning pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs. Goes into medication orders from physicians’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, making sure that the appropriate product is given which the dose kind and charge quantity are in accordance with formulary; goes into correct billing data and is accountable for medication charges and credits. Resolves discrepancies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated dispensing maker (ADM) Cleans up and helps maintain equipment and workspace; decontaminates glass wares according to established procedures. KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Basic understanding of Pharmacy Care modalities, terms, pharmaceutical calculations, terminology, substance abuse and aseptic strategies, standards, and equipment. Understanding of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications. Need to be able to check out, compose and follow instructions and flow diagram procedures. Ability to sort, check, count, and validate numbers. Capability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental and seclusion practices and treatments at all times. Social abilities required to interact effectively with clients and staff. General computer skills, consisting of however not restricted to: using required software applications, information entry, information security, electronic medical documents, hand held scanning and email.
