The Drug store Professional 1, under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist, provides pharmacy services, handles inventory, and provides pharmaceutical care as appointed and in accordance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) regulations.
VITAL FUNCTIONS OF THE FUNCTION
Performs minimal pharmacy services and tasks related to the stocking, preparation, labeling, giving and shipment of medications.
Helps clients and medical staff with nonjudgmental questions under the direct guidance of a pharmacist preceptor.
Responses inbound call and reacts to the requirements of the caller and/or directs them to the appropriate person for service.
Communicates without delay with all proper staff member when inventory levels are low and helps with drug buying and stock control in a proper way (ex. ordering and receiving of medications and materials).
Performs designated tasks concerning drug store quality control, management of pharmacy records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs.
Gets in medication orders from medical professionals’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, ensuring that the correct item is dispensed and that the dosage form and charge quantity are in accordance with formulary; goes into proper billing information and is responsible for medication charges and credits.
Solves disparities, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated dispensing device (ADM)
Cleans and helps keep devices and work area; decontaminates glasses according to recognized procedures.
SECRET SUCCESS ASPECTS
Standard understanding of Drug store Care modalities, terms, pharmaceutical computations, terms, drug use and aseptic methods, standards, and equipment.
Understanding of procedures and requirements for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
Needs to be able to check out, compose and follow guidelines and flow chart protocols.
Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
Capability to follow recognized safety, infection control, environmental and seclusion practices and procedures at all times.
Interpersonal abilities required to communicate efficiently with clients and staff.
General computer abilities, including but not restricted to: utilizing needed software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email.
