JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy Technician 1, under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist, offers pharmacy services, handles inventory, and provides pharmaceutical care as appointed and in accordance with Texas State Board of Drug Store (TSBP) policies. VITAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Carries out minimal pharmacy services and responsibilities connected with the equipping, preparation, labeling, giving and shipment of medications. Assists clients and medical staff with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor. Responses inbound call and responds to the needs of the caller and/or directs them to the appropriate individual for service. Interacts quickly with all proper employee when stock levels are low and assists with drug buying and inventory control in a proper manner (ex. buying and getting of medications and supplies). Carries out designated tasks relating to drug store quality assurance, management of pharmacy records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs. Goes into medication orders from medical professionals’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, guaranteeing that the right product is given and that the dosage form and charge quantity remain in accordance with formulary; gets in correct billing information and is responsible for medication charges and credits. Deals with inconsistencies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated dispensing maker (ADM) Cleans and helps keep devices and workspace; decontaminates glassware according to established treatments. SECRET SUCCESS FACTORS Basic understanding of Drug store Care techniques, terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, terminology, substance abuse and aseptic techniques, requirements, and equipment. Understanding of treatments and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications. Must be able to read, write and follow directions and flowchart procedures. Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers. Capability to follow recognized security, infection control, ecological and isolation practices and treatments at all times. Social abilities required to engage successfully with clients and personnel. General computer system abilities, including however not limited to: utilizing needed software application applications, information entry, details security, electronic medical paperwork, hand held scanning and e-mail.
