The Drug Store Service Technician 1, under the guidance and instructions of a Pharmacist, supplies pharmacy services, manages inventory, and provides pharmaceutical care as assigned and in accordance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) guidelines.
VITAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Performs minimal drug store services and tasks related to the equipping, preparation, labeling, dispensing and delivery of medications.
Helps patients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor.
Responses incoming phone calls and reacts to the requirements of the caller and/or directs them to the appropriate person for service.
Communicates immediately with all appropriate employee when inventory levels are low and helps with drug acquiring and inventory control in a suitable way (ex. purchasing and getting of medications and materials).
Carries out designated tasks concerning drug store quality control, management of drug store records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs.
Gets in medication orders from doctors’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, making sure that the proper item is dispensed which the dosage kind and charge quantity remain in accordance with formulary; enters proper billing information and is accountable for medication charges and credits.
Deals with disparities, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated giving machine (ADM)
Cleans and helps maintain equipment and work area; disinfects glass wares according to established treatments.

Standard understanding of Drug store Care techniques, terms, pharmaceutical computations, terms, drug use and aseptic methods, standards, and devices.
Knowledge of treatments and requirements for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
Needs to have the ability to read, write and follow instructions and flow diagram procedures.
Ability to sort, check, count, and confirm numbers.
Ability to follow established security, infection control, ecological and seclusion practices and procedures at all times.
Interpersonal abilities required to communicate successfully with clients and staff.
General computer system abilities, including however not limited to: utilizing needed software applications, information entry, info security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and e-mail.
