The Pharmacy Service Technician 1, under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist, supplies drug store services, handles inventory, and delivers pharmaceutical care as designated and in accordance with Texas State Board of Drug Store (TSBP) regulations.
NECESSARY FUNCTIONS OF THE FUNCTION
Carries out restricted pharmacy services and responsibilities associated with the equipping, preparation, labeling, giving and delivery of medications.
Assists patients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor.
Answers incoming telephone call and reacts to the needs of the caller and/or directs them to the proper individual for service.
Interacts immediately with all suitable team members when inventory levels are low and helps with drug acquiring and inventory control in a proper manner (ex. ordering and receiving of medications and products).
Performs designated jobs relating to pharmacy quality assurance, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparation of order for drugs.
Gets in medication orders from physicians’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, guaranteeing that the appropriate item is given and that the dosage kind and charge amount are in accordance with formulary; goes into appropriate billing information and is accountable for medication charges and credits.
Deals with inconsistencies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated giving maker (ADM)
Cleans and assists maintain equipment and work area; sanitizes glass wares according to established procedures.

Standard understanding of Drug store Care modalities, terms, pharmaceutical computations, terminology, substance abuse and aseptic techniques, requirements, and equipment.
Understanding of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
Needs to have the ability to read, write and follow guidelines and flow chart protocols.
Capability to sort, check, count, and confirm numbers.
Ability to follow established security, infection control, ecological and seclusion practices and procedures at all times.
Interpersonal skills needed to interact effectively with clients and staff.
General computer skills, including but not restricted to: utilizing needed software applications, data entry, info security, electronic medical documents, hand held scanning and e-mail.
