Texas Oncology is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Tech to join our team! This position is for the Northeast San Antonio location, located at 2130 NE Interstate 410 Loop, Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78217. What does the Pharmacy Tech do?
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible preparation of medication orders under supervision of a registered Pharmacist. Will be checking all orders for completion and verify patient information.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities:
Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
Under direct supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents. Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Pharmacy Tech will have the following background and experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Willing to consider an entry-, mid-, or senior-level candidate.
Minimum 1 year as a pharmacy tech with I.V. experience required, as well as a valid I.V. certification.
Experience as a pharmacy tech in a clinic and/or hospital setting strongly preferred.
Oncology experience preferred.
Must be licensed with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and have a certification.
