Pharmacy Tech PT - Vaccine Hub

The Pharmacy Specialist 1, under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist, provides pharmacy services, manages inventory, and provides pharmaceutical care as appointed and in accordance with Texas State Board of Drug Store (TSBP) guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Carries out restricted pharmacy services and duties connected with the stocking, preparation, labeling, giving and shipment of medications.

Helps clients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor.

Responses incoming telephone call and responds to the needs of the caller and/or directs them to the suitable individual for service.

Interacts quickly with all appropriate team members when inventory levels are low and helps with drug getting and stock control in a proper way (ex. buying and receiving of medications and products).

Carries out designated jobs concerning drug store quality assurance, management of pharmacy records, stock control and preparation of order for drugs.

Goes into medication orders from medical professionals’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, making sure that the appropriate product is given and that the dose kind and charge amount are in accordance with formulary; gets in appropriate billing data and is responsible for medication charges and credits.

Deals with inconsistencies, troubleshoots and runs reports from the automated dispensing machine (ADM)

Cleans and assists preserve equipment and workspace; sterilizes glass wares according to recognized treatments.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Basic understanding of Pharmacy Care modalities, terminology, pharmaceutical computations, terms, substance abuse and aseptic techniques, requirements, and devices.

Knowledge of treatments and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.

Must be able to check out, write and follow guidelines and flow diagram procedures.

Capability to sort, check, count, and validate numbers.

Capability to follow established security, infection control, environmental and seclusion practices and treatments at all times.

Social skills needed to engage efficiently with patients and staff.

General computer system abilities, including but not limited to: using needed software application applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical paperwork, hand held scanning and email.

CREDENTIALS

– EDUCATION – H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

– EXPERIENCE – Less than 1 Year of Experience

– CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION –
