Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Procures and disperses drug orders per doctor demand, pharmacist demand or prearranged work task according to recognized policies, treatments and procedures, and within defined timespan. Fills doctor’s orders, medication surgical packages, medication carts or medication appropriations and specialized items/bins precisely.
  • Identifies and fills replacement medications on emergency situation crash carts, OR carts and flooring stock properly. Prepares sterilized items (consisting of chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) precisely. Provides medications and products to client care and secondary locations precisely.
  • Maintains appropriate stock of medications and products according to recognized policies, treatments and procedures and within defined amount of time. Assists in buying, getting, unloading and saving pharmaceuticals and materials in proper areas. Turns stock to guarantee usage prior to expiration date. Recognizes and changes out-of-date and unusable drugs. Restocks medication and IV giving locations. Prepackages medications in system of usage containers.
  • Contributes to the reliable operation of the department. Choices up orders, appropriations and medications for return from client care locations when on shipment rounds. Gets in medication orders into drug store computer system properly. Goes into charges and credits for client medications properly. Produces reports, choice lists and labels as needed.
  • Answers the telephone, determining self and department. Directs contacts us to proper workers. Responses demands at the window and makes STAT shipments to client care locations when asked for. Organizes and focuses on work tasks.
  • Maintains logs, records and other needed documents precisely. Files in proper places.
  • Participates in the quality enhancement activities of the department. Finishes all appointed medication storage location assessments in a prompt way. Performs quality displays, gathers information and finishes paperwork, as appointed. Keeps drug store locations tidy, cool, and well arranged. Keeps drug store devices tidy.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as required.
