JOB SUMMARY The Drug Store Specialist 2 PRN helps in the technical aspects of the circulation of medications and related functions, with the capability to perform jobs independently and to maintain a specific area of responsibility while assisting in the shipment of pharmaceutical care. NECESSARY FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Gets in medication orders from medical professionals’ order sheets/prescriptions and fills according to label, ensuring that the proper item is dispensed and that the dosage kind and charge quantity remain in accordance with formulary; gets in right billing data as required. Completes and files suitable documentation to make sure payment for and shipment of drug store products. Displays lost charges. Performs innovative insurance adjudication, advantages examination, and coordination of benefits (Part B, specialty drugs). Carries out Tech-Check-Tech product verification. Carries out drug store services and responsibilities related to the stocking, preparation, labeling, giving and delivery of medications. Assists patients and medical personnel with nonjudgmental concerns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist preceptor. Responses easy concerns from medical personnel and clients. Delivers medication properly to clients, and provides shipment carts to floors daily. Orders supplies daily and coordinates returns for credit when pharmaceuticals have expired. Assists in maintaining a clean, organized, and completely stocked workplace in accordance with recognized policies and treatments. Performs stock control: Stocking, cleansing and dealing with prescription and OTC shelves. Substances or admixes active ingredients appropriately for dispensing, cart fill and sterilized preparation while under the guidance of the Pharmacist. Performs IV admixtures using aseptic techniques and in compliance with accepted regulatory requirements as required. SECRET SUCCESS ASPECTS General understanding of Pharmacy Care methods, terms, pharmaceutical computations, substance abuse and aseptic strategies, requirements, and equipment. Knowledge of treatments and requirements for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications. Should be able to read, write and follow instructions and flow chart protocols. Ability to sort, check, count, and confirm numbers. Ability to follow recognized security, infection control, ecological and isolation practices and procedures at all times. Interpersonal skills required to communicate successfully with patients and staff. General computer system abilities, including however not restricted to: using required software applications, information entry, info security, electronic medical documents, hand held scanning and email.
