Responsibilities & Requirements

Duties:

  • As a pharmacy service technician based in the emergency department, the team member will work closely with patients and healthcare team members to collect, review, clarify and investigate patient medication histories.
  • Acquiring precise and comprehensive details about a client’s medication therapy before admission is a vital element of avoiding drug-related problems throughout a healthcare facility stay.
  • Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the specialist is responsible for clarifying the details through direct communication with patients and family members, outpatient pharmacies, and suppliers and then documenting the interaction in the digital electronic health record (specifically LEGENDARY) in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with standard procedures, HFAP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • The staff member will have direct patient interaction with all client populations.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous retail pharmacy or related healthcare experience is chosen.
  • Present registration as a Qualified Pharmacy Specialist in the State of Ohio. Drug Store Technician Certification Board (PTCB) accreditation or comparable needed.
