The Hemodynamic Technologist is accountable for offering help to doctors, anesthesiologists, and personnel in performing physiological monitoring, autotransfusion services, point of care, and lab testing. Assists during intubation and line placement. Accountable for the care, cleansing, and handling of anesthesia devices. Coordination of look after patients needing cardiopulmonary tracking and offers anesthesia support services. Maintains materials for processes. Takes inventory, orders, and stocks anesthesia carts. Supports the objective of the Perioperative Services Division by being a picture of professionalism through communication, look, and conduct. Maintains a working understanding of departmental and healthcare facility standards, policies, and treatments. The Lead function provides guidance, training, and is the “go-to person”. Performs other duties designated.
Important Functions:
- In collaboration with the anesthesia service provider( s) is included with the anesthesia strategy of care.
- Considering age-related requirements, performs client care activities, within the scope of practice. As a member of the anesthesia care team helps with direct patient take care of teen, adult, and geriatric patient.
- Working with very little guidance, everyday duties consist of, however are not restricted to the setup, application, and help of invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, induction of anesthesia for general/regional & local anesthesia, fiberoptic intubation, supply cricoid pressure, insertion of regular & tough venipuncture, positioning of the patient for surgery, anesthesia blocks, and emergency C-sections in labor & deliver.
- Responds to emerging codes and circumstances throughout the health center
- Puts together anesthesia airway established. Prepares maker for deadly hyperthermia & latex allergic reaction when required.
- Utilizing sterile strategy, establishes and assists with placement of invasive monitoring equipment in regular and emergency scenarios, including however not limited to: arterial line, main venous pressure line, PA catheter, cardiac output, and other monitoring adjuncts.
- Assists with getting lab specimens and ABG’s. Is qualified in using & quality control for Point of Care testing equipment.
- Coordinates client tracking equipment accessibility with PACU and Critical Care systems.
- Works with perioperative team to assist in a timely space turnover.
- Assembles anesthesia devices and products needed for general/regional/local anesthesia.
- Assists anesthesia provider with patient preparation, electrode placement, use of ultrasound/nerve stimulator gadgets, and performs the mechanical job of pressing syringe plunger, as directed by the anesthesia provider, to impart medication during local blocks.
- Removes and appropriately deals with materials and equipment following procedures done by the anesthesia service provider.
- Operates cell salvaging, intra-aortic balloon pumping, and TEE gadgets as needed.
- Performs cleaning, sanitation, and decontamination of all non-disposable anesthesia-related items.
- Thinks about spending plan while keeping enough stock, and examines for outdates, materials, and nonscheduled drugs in the anesthesia workroom, makers, carts, and auxiliary anesthetizing areas.
- Has a comprehensive, comprehensive, understanding of medications frequently utilized in anesthesia including; function, proper storage, generic and proprietary names, and labeling requirements.
- Coordinates with Pharmacy for out-of-stock drugs.
- Uses working knowledge and operation of all devices and screens.
- Carries out regular checkout and maintenance of anesthesia devices, examines for damages, and sends for repair or troubleshoots as required
- Collaborates with Biomedical Engineering for maintenance and repair of anesthesia equipment and ensures adequate backup devices is readily available.
- Maintains & out-of-date products in emergency carts and boxes, such as code blue, malignant hyperthermia, fluid resuscitation/code purple, and fiberoptic/difficult respiratory tract.
- Assures a tidy, organized and functional workplace.
- Clinical Care: Guarantee that quality patient care is delivered to all clients on a 24- hour basis, and the system is maintained in accordance with professional and regulative requirements and the viewpoint and objectives of Hoag.

Education, Training, and Experience:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terms and materials. Standard computer system skills. BLS accreditation. Existing national credential as a Licensed Anesthesia Technician (Cert AT) through the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists or competition of LVN program.
Preferred:
- One year plus of experience in a role within peri-operative services.
Abilities or Other Certifications:
Required:
- These abilities apply to all levels: Proficient in invasive hemodynamic tracking, Advanced skills in Intra Operative Autotransfusion.
- Demonstrates reliable communication, interpersonal abilities, organizational ability, understanding of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, capability to follow guidelines, knowledge of the age of population served, and extra abilities and understanding of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments.
- Advanced skills in invasive hemodynamic monitoring, insertion, elimination, transportation, and tracking of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IAPB).
Preferred:
- Advanced skills in Intra Operative Autotransfusion and Plasma Sequestration and Arterial Blood Gas Analysis.
License and Certifications:
Required:
- Applies to all levels: Certified Anesthesia Technician/Technologist designated by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians (ASATT) Advanced & Basic Cardiac Life Assistance.
- Legitimate ACLS & BCLS Provider Card.
- IV Certification.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist/RT Licensure, LVN license
