Job Summary: A senior Pharmacy Technician prepares intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition options, cancer chemotherapy medications, gets in medication orders and keeps client profiles, and helps the pharmacist in medical responsibilities, medication dispensing and order filling.

Position Accountabilities

1) Follows department policy and treatment for preparing and giving pharmaceuticals under the direct guidance of a certified pharmacist. (1, 2, 3, 5) 20%

Criteria

Fills system dosage bins, blends intravenous services, effectively labels and gives system dosage and bulk medications; fills flooring stock orders, bundles products in unit-of-use and renews Pyxis Medstation stock as needed.

2) Follows department policy and treatment for preparing and giving oncology chemotherapy, overall parenteral nutrition (TPN) services, investigational drugs, and illegal drugs under the direct guidance of a certified pharmacist. (1, 2, 3, 5) 20%

Criteria

Mixes Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) services, oncology chemotherapy, and investigational drugs; gives illegal drugs as needed.

3) Develops and preserves drug store details system order entry and report generation abilities. Evaluations medication stock, puts supplier orders, gets medications, and processes documents. (1, 3, 5) 20%

Criteria

Proficient in all elements of system dosage, bulk medication, intravenous admixture, managed compound, TPN and outpatient medication order entry and report generation. Fulfills department-developed requirements for work volume and precision.

4) Delivers, gets and debits/credits drug store products from nursing locations. (5) 10%

Criteria

Exchanges system dosage bins and batch ready intravenous admixtures, provides and gets system dosage, intravenous admixture and TPN services. Debits/credits client accounts as specified by department policy and treatment.

5) Completes needed documents for location. (2, 5) 10%

Criteria

Completes all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement keeping track of information sheets. Finishes all illegal drug records.

6) Safety/Infection Control: Practices according to security and infection control policies. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) 5%

Job Specifications
