Summary:
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, fills medication orders, pre-packages, compounds pharmaceuticals, refills stock supplies, delivers medication and performs various clerical duties as required.
Responsibilities
*Maintains practice competency in selected areas of PHS pharmacy operations e.g. medication preparation, purchasing, or administrative/financial.
*Fills medication orders for inpatients, outpatients, regionals and PHS clinics. Distributes floor stock supplies.
*Compounds, labels and repackages medications.
*Fills and exchanges unit dose cassettes.
*Fills orders for controlled substances and maintains all required records.
*Delivers supplies to patient unit and ancillary areas.
*Performs clerical and billing duties as assigned.
*Answers telephone and responds to questions and problems.
*Restocks medication supplies.
*Checks stock on a regular basis to identify and reorder out dated stock and ensures that stock is maintained in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
*Responsible for adherence to the Department Compliance Plan for Controlled substances.
*Performs dispensing and compounding functions utilizing automation technology.
*Performs other functions as required.
Qualifications
Requires: High school plus specialized, short-term training in the areas of pharmacy law, practices standards, terminology, pharmacy math, drug preparation, dosage forms and trade/generic names.
Credentials: Pharmacy Technician National Certification through exam or transfer required. Active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy.

Experience: At least one year experience in pharmacy or completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program
